Instagram is a popular social media platform that allows users to share photos and videos with their followers. Over time, the app accumulates data in the form of cache files which can take up significant storage space on your iOS device. The good news is that you can clear Instagram’s cache without losing any personal information or content.
Firstly, it’s important to understand what cache data is. Cache data consists of temporary files created by apps, websites and other programs to speed up processes. For Instagram, these are mostly images and videos you’ve viewed that are stored on your device so they load quickly when you want to view them again. However, over time this data can build up and start taking up too much space.
Start by opening the ‘Settings’ app from your home screen then scroll down until you find ‘General’. Tap on ‘General’ then select ‘iPhone Storage’. Here you’ll see a list of all installed apps along with the amount of storage each one is using.
Scroll down until you find Instagram and tap on it. You’ll see two numbers – one for ‘App Size’ (the amount of space taken by the application itself) and another for ‘Documents & Data’ (this includes cached files). If Documents & Data exceeds 500MB, it might be a good idea to delete the app and reinstall it as this will remove cached files without affecting any personal data such as photos or messages.
To do this, tap Delete App then confirm deletion when prompted. Remember this only deletes the app from your device; all your photos, comments and profile details remain safe online.
Once deleted, head back to App Store search for Instagram then download and install it again. Log in with your credentials as usual – voila! You have successfully cleared Clear Instagram cache without losing any personal information or posts.
It’s important to note that clearing cache will not delete any of your personal data such as posts, comments or messages. It only removes temporary files that help the app run faster. You might notice a slight slowdown in performance immediately after clearing cache because these files need to be recreated but this should improve quickly.
Clearing Instagram’s cache on your iOS device is an easy way to free up storage space without losing any of your precious photos or videos. So next time you find yourself running out of room, give it a try!
